The Josephine de Karman Fellowship Trust was established in 1954 by the late Dr. Theodore von Karman, world renowned aeronautics expert and teacher and first director of the Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, in memory of his sister, Josephine, who died in 1951. The purpose of this fellowship program is to recognize and assist students whose scholastic achievements reflect professor von Karman’s high standards.

2010-2011 FELLOWSHIP GUIDELINES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Applications are available at www.dekarman.org. If you wish to receive an application in the mail, submit your request via the website or send your request to P.O. Box 3389, San Dimas, CA 91773.

Complete applications, including official transcripts of applicant’s graduate and undergraduate studies at institutions in the United States and and two letters of recommendation, must be received by the fellowship committee IN ONE PACKAGE postmarked no later than midnight, January 31, 2010. Late applications will not be considered.

Announcement of awards will be made approximately April 15, 2010.

A minimum of ten (10) fellowships, $22,000 for graduate students and $14,000 for undergraduate students, will be awarded for the regular academic year (fall and spring semesters or the equivalent where the quarterly system prevails), paid through the fellowship office of the university in which the recipient is enrolled for study in the United States. Study must be carried out only in the and all funds must be expended only within this country.

The fellowship is for one academic year and may not be renewed or postponed.

DeKarman fellowships are open to students in any discipline, including international students, who are currently enrolled in a university or college located within the United States. Only candidates for the PhD who will defend their dissertations by June 2011 and undergraduates entering their senior year (will receive bachelors degree in June 2011) are eligible for consideration. Postdoctoral and masters degree students are not eligible for consideration. Special consideration will be given to applicants in the Humanities.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. Since the inception of the Gilman Scholarship Program in 2001, 18,960 applications have been received and 4,728 scholarships have been awarded to students participating in study abroad programs.

The Gilman Scholarship Program seeks to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go. Specifically, the Gilman Program offers scholarships for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in education abroad.

Income-Based Repayment and Public Service Loan Forgiveness
Income-Based Repayment (IBR) is a new payment option for federal student loans. It can help borrowers keep their loan payments affordable with payment caps based on their income and family size. Public Service Loan Forgiveness is a new program for federal student loan borrowers who work in certain kinds of jobs. It will forgive remaining debt after 10 years of eligible employment and qualifying loan payments.

IFDA/EF SCHOLARSHIP AND GRANT award funds shall be for the stated use of the individual or organization applying for the grant or scholarship. IFDA/EF funds may not be used to pay any indirect costs that might be associated with acceptances of such a grant or scholarship. IFDA Leaders Commemorative Scholarship-$1000
Supported by the IFDA Georgia Chapter

The IFDA Educational Foundation established this scholarship, supported by the Georgia Chapter, as a way to honor IFDA leaders, past and present. The 2009 scholarship will be in honor of John Camp, FIFDA, a past Georgia chapter leader, IFDA Educational Foundation Chair in 1996 and IFDA National President in 1998. This scholarship is available to all enrolled undergraduate students studying interior design or a closely related program. The student must be involved with volunteer or community service and have held leadership positions during the past five years. Application deadline March 31st. Results will be announced by July 31.

All applicants must have completed four design courses in post secondary education at the time of application and are majoring in Interior Design or a closely related field.

The IFDA Illinois Chapter initiated the Vercille Voss Graduate Student Scholarship in memory of Vercille Voss, longtime chapter member and mentor to new members and students. This scholarship is available to students enrolled in a graduate degree program in interior design or closely related program. The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at an accredited university.

Ruth Clark Furniture Design Scholarship
Supported by the Carolinas Chapter

The Ruth Clark Scholarship was established by the Carolinas Chapter to honor Ruth Clark, one of the chapter's founding members. Ruth Clark, an IFDA Fellow, graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. During her career, she designed upholstered furniture for several companies, and many of her designs have become classics in the industry. She mentored design students and young professionals in the field, served as Carolinas Chapter President and received the prestigious IFDA National Honorary Recognition Award in 1994. Currently she is a design consultant and furniture designer for The Clark Connection. The scholarship is open to currently enrolled post secondary students whose emphasis is on residential furniture design.

Application packet due March 31st. Winner to be announced July 31st.

Application requirements:
All applicants must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in DESIGN with a focus on residential upholstered and/or wood furniture design.

Marketing Internship Scholarship -- $1,500

The IFDA Educational Foundation has established the Marketing Internship Scholarship to support interns in the industry's marketing, public relations, and publishing areas. Conceived by Jeanne Byington, a Fellow in IFDA and member of the New York Chapter, the scholarship is for those desiring to enter this large and important segment of the design/furnishings industry.

Eligibility Requirements
An individual who is pursuing a career in the marketing aspect of the design/home furnishings industry, such as a) currently enrolled full-time college student, b) a professional changing career fields or c) someone entering or reentering the job market.

Applicants need to have found or already be engaged in an internship position whose term will be for a period of two - six months. The internship must be directly involved in marketing, advertising or promoting products or services in the design/home or contract furnishings industry. This may be an internship with a public relations, advertising, marketing, or a publishing firm, or as an intern working directly in one of these areas with an industry company. IFDA EF does not provide internships or internship lead information. That is the sole responsibility of the applicant.

• A signed letter from internship supervisor on official school, university or institution letterhead verifying internship position acceptance: and a letter from employer on company letterhead confirming approximate time frame and outline of responsibilities (For full time student only)

Green/Sustainable Design Scholarship -$1000

Aware of increasing environmental concerns worldwide, the IFDA Educational Foundation established a new scholarship for a student focusing on the evolving green/sustainable field of study. Sustainable design is the development of innovative ways to create living spaces that are energy efficient and feature green/sustainable materials, fabrications and products. The student applying for this scholarship is planning to become an educated participant in the green movement. Paying equal attention to both sustainability factors and design aesthetics, the student should be demonstrating creative use of green products and eco friendly furnishings in class projects. The student is familiar with current information in the green/sustainable field, is applying this knowledge in class work and has a goal of seeking a future LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation. Application Deadline March 31st. Results will be announced by July 31st

Application Requirements:

The student is currently enrolled an accredited school, college or university.

Other requirements include a 200-400 word essay describing short and long term goals, extra curricular activities, and why they are interested in green/sustainable design.

Scholarships
IMA sponsors a variety of scholarship programs to help students offset the high cost of education. These include the IMA Memorial Education Fund and Stuart Cameron and Margaret McLeod Memorial Scholarships, and the Rolf S. Jaehnigen Family Scholarship. In addition, IMA’s Foundation for Applied Research offers a research grant program for doctoral students who are pursuing research in the area of management accounting.

Student Chapter Awards and Competitions
Student chapters are a vital part of the IMA community. Each year the students and their chapters vie for various awards including the National Student Case Competition, Awards of Excellence, Outstanding Student Chapter, Student Manuscript Award and the Clark Johnson Achievement Award.For information on starting a IMA Student Chapter on your campus, click here for the latest version of the Student Chapter Manual.

National Student Case Competition
Teams of students respond to a published case by preparing and submitting a videotaped presentation to judges selected from IMA members. The 2010 finals competition will be held at IMA's Annual Conference and Exposition in Baltimore, MD on June 5-9, 2010. This very exciting competition presents students with real life challenges and the opportunity to:

analyze a case
develop a solution
present it to an audience
receive recognition for their efforts

Laurels Fund – The Laurels Fund was established in 1978 to honor Sally Self, a pioneering woman of distinction in the accounting profession. Its purpose is to provide one-year academic scholarships for women who are pursuing a Ph.D. in accounting. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000 each.

Women in Transition Scholarship – The Women in Transition Scholarship was established in 1990 to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Educational Foundation. It was designated for women returning to school to earn a Bachelors degree in accounting. This scholarship is awarded for $16,000 over four years and is renewable annually upon satisfactory completion of course requirements.
Note: This scholarship is not being offered in 2009.

Women in Need Scholarship – The Board of Trustees created the Women in Need scholarship in 2000 for women who are beginning their third, fourth, or fifth year of academic pursuit and require financial support to complete their degrees. This $2,000 scholarship is renewable for one additional year upon satisfactory completion of course requirements.

KPMG Scholarships – In a continuing effort to support women's initiatives, KPMG is sponsoring three Women In Need scholarships. KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm (www.us.kpmg.com), is the U.S. member firm of KPMG International. KPMG International's member firms have 113,000 professionals, including 6,800 partners, in 148 countries.

Seattle ASWA Chapter Scholarship – The Seattle chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants established an annual scholarship in 2007 for an amount up to $2,000 to be awarded to a candidate attending an accredited school within the State of Washington. This scholarship will be renewable for one additional year upon satisfactory completion of course requirements.

Michele L. McDonald Scholarship – This scholarship was established in 2006 by members of the Albuquerque chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants in memory of one of their members. This is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000, and preference will be given to a woman returning to college from the work force or after raising children.

Rowling, Dold & Associates LLP Scholarship – This woman-owned CPA firm in San Diego, California, sponsors a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000. It is available for women returning to school with either undergraduate status; as incoming, current or reentry juniors or seniors; or minority women. This scholarship may be renewable for one additional year upon satisfactory completion of course requirements.

Matching Funds Challenge -- Up to $5,000 will be matched for contributions to EFWA in the amount of $250 or more.

Graduate Directed Energy Scholarships

High Energy Laser (HEL) & High Power Microwave (HPM) Technologies

The Directed Energy Professional Society (DEPS) is the premier organization for the exchange of information on the development and application of directed energy (DE), which includes both high energy lasers (HEL) and high power microwaves (HPM). DEPS fosters research and development of DE technology for national defense and civil applications through professional communication and education. The traditional academic disciplines involved in DE research include, but are not limited to, physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials sciences, optical sciences, optical engineering, and aerospace engineering.

This program offered partial scholarships of $10,000 for the 2009-2010 school year. The number and amount of 2010-2011 scholarship awards will depend on available funding, which is provided by the High Energy Laser Joint Technology Office and by DEPS.

Requirements

DEPS is seeking qualified scholarship candidates for the 2010-2011 school year. Students must be full-time graduate students at a U.S. school for the term of the scholarship, and expected graduation for initial applicants must be no earlier than the end of the 2010-2011 school year. No more than one award will be made to students of any individual graduate advisor.

Candidates are expected to be interested in pursuing or currently studying the DE technology areas of HEL or HPM. The technical scope of acceptable research is the same as that of the Journal of Directed Energy and of DEPS meetings. Scholarship students have published in the Journal and made presentations at these technical meetings.

Students applying for this scholarship must be U.S. citizens or have demonstrated interest in becoming citizens. Citizens of other countries may apply, if they provide with the application package a letter of intent to become a U.S. citizen.

The term of the Scholarship is one year. Scholars may apply for support in the next year, but they have no advantage over other applicants. The requirement that a student have a year or more remaining before award of the degree is waived for current Scholars who are reapplying. An award made to a current Scholar graduating before May 2011 will be proportionately reduced.

This DEPS scholarship application,

Note: Previous applicants who are applying again this year need only submit transcripts that have changed since the last application. For example, a second-year graduate student who applied last year need not resubmit transcripts from undergraduate school.

The College, together with industry, awards scholarships to final year trainees and to new Fellows in their first five years of Fellowship to assist them with further study. The applications for scholarships are judged against a set of criteria by a panel consisting of the College President, the Censor-in-Chief, and one other Fellow. Scholarships are announced and presented at the Annual Scientific Congress each year.

Under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom is inviting Malta to nominate a number of candidates who are interested to pursue:

• 12 – 36 months of either a full time taught or a doctoral post graduate qualification;

• 12 months’ non-degree study in the UK on a Split-Site basis to aid the completion of a doctoral degree undertaken at a University in the home country.

1. Among the conditions emphasised by the United Kingdom Scholarship Commission, candidates should:

a. hold, by 1st October 2010, a first degree of upper second class Honours standard (or above) or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification, which will normally be a Master’s degree

b. be available to commence their academic studies in the United Kingdom by the start of the U.K. academic year in September / October 2010.

2. Awards are tenable at UK participating institutions, which can be viewed on the website below. Candidates are expected to state their preferred institution on the application form, but the final decision on host institution will be made by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom. In recent years, placement of successful candidates has sometimes been delayed by the process of gaining admission to their host university. For this reason, it is strongly advisable that candidates submit independent applications directly to their preferred institutions. Where offers of admission have been obtained, these should be included with the application.

3. The commission will not offer awards to scholars close to completing a doctorate in their home country, though awards may be tenable to complete doctoral studies already underway in their home country or in the U.K.

4. Each applicant must submit 6 complete applications, accompanied by:

a. six copies (1 original and 5 copies) of the University / College transcript(s) and certificate(s), certified by the awarding body

b. one certified copy of birth certificate attached to the first (original) application

c. certificate of English language proficiency

d. six copies (1 original and 5 copies) of University Admission Letter

e. six copies (1 original and 5 copies) of Letter of Acceptance from UK supervisor (for Split-Site applicants).

5. Applications submitted without the complete documentation will not be eligible for consideration.

6. All awards must be tenable on a full-time basis.

The main selection criteria are the academic merit of the candidate, the quality of proposal and the potential of the candidate to lead in the pursuit of global excellence in research and knowledge.

That’s why we offer an annual scholarship program to help outstanding students complete their studies leading to a BSN degree. Who Is Eligible?

Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society

The Rolex Scholarship

Currently there are three Rolex Scholarships: North America, Europe, and Australasia. Each Rolex Scholarship provides a hands-on introduction to underwater and other aquatic-related endeavors for a young person considering a career in an underwater-related discipline. One scholar is selected from each of the three regions and each scholar spends approximately one year working side by side with current leaders in underwater fields. Each scholar travels primarily within his or her region, but may have opportunities throughout the underwater world. The range of experiences may include active participation in field studies, underwater research, scientific expeditions, laboratory assignments, equipment testing and design, photographic instruction, and other specialized assignments.

Scholars pursue activities in their chosen disciplines during the one-year period between Our World Underwater Scholarship Society’s annual spring meetings. Experiences may last from a few days to over a month. At the conclusion of each experience, the scholar moves on to another, so the scholarship year involves extensive travel. The scholar is literally on the road from spring-to-spring with very little time at a home base. Scholars spend most of the year with the society's friends, hosts, and coordinators around the world. The experiences vary from year to year depending upon the scholar's interests and the availability of expeditions and hosts' opportunities. These experiences make up the real heart of the scholarship. The opportunity to join a host's daily activities exposes the scholar to the realities of the host's special pursuits.

Each of the three Rolex Scholarships has a coordinator who organizes itineraries for his or her scholar - emphasizing breadth of experience, but tailoring the itenerary to the individual scholar’s background and interests. These itineraries include time with specialists in such areas as biology, hyperbarics, anthropology, and archaeology. Scholar hosts include scientists, engineers, filmmakers, and marine mammal researchers. Visits to dive store operations, classes in underwater photography, and working with conservation organizations are also typical experiences.

These experiences provide the scholars with a broad overview of careers in the underwater world. Scholars may spend varying lengths of time investigating:

•Ecological Activism

European Vacation Scholarships
The Cambridge European Trust offers scholarships towards the cost of academically valuable activities undertaken by Cambridge students in European countries (not confined to the EU). (Activities in the UK, such as attendance at a non-English intensive language course, will be considered for support only if the applicant can demonstrate that the equivalent activity in a European country outside the UK is not possible.)

Aims of the Scholarships
The aim is to encourage Cambridge students to improve their knowledge of the history, languages, culture, politics, and styles of teaching and of research organization, of other European countries.

Eligible activities
Activities may be related or unrelated to the applicant's Cambridge degree subject. Purposes such as attendance at summer schools offered by European universities, profound courses in languages for non-linguists, and scientific work in European laboratories could be supported.

Ineligible activities
The Scholarships will not fund:

■Attendance at academic conferences, seminars or meetings which, although they may happen to take place in another European country, are not likely to improve participants' awareness of the host country
■Presenting research papers at conferences
■Medical electives and equivalent
■Vacation courses and field trips organised by Cambridge Faculties and Departments
Eligible applicants
■Students at any level of study (undergraduate, taught postgraduate or research postgraduate) may apply
■Undergraduates who are graduating in the year of application may apply, provided they are continuing to postgraduate study in Cambridge
■Students of languages may not apply for intensive language tuition in their language of study (but may apply for cultural visits to a country whose language they are studying)
Given the aim of the Scholarships, it will be clear that certain applicants and activities will have priority for funding. For example: an NST student is more likely to be funded for a language course than an MML student (because the MML student is likely to have already acquired a greater degree of cultural awareness); discretionary, 'added-value' research visits are more likely to be funded than research which is part and parcel of a graduate student's normal programme of research; and a French national is more likely than a German national to be funded to undertake an activity in Germany. Such prioritising is necessary because - particularly in the Easter and Long Vacations - the number of applicants, and the amount sought, greatly exceeds the Trust's capacity to make awards.

Amount of award
The value of awards will be determined according to the cost of the activity and the other resources available to the applicant, but most awards are expected to be of £250.

Reporting
Those offered an award are be expected to submit a short written report on their return.

AHRC Professional Preparation Master’s Scheme Awards

Well-qualified applicants on the following programmes of study may be eligible for a full maintenance and fees award or a fees-only award, depending on which criteria of residency etc they meet.
For a full award, applicants must have been resident in the UK for three years or more prior to start of the award. For EU nationals this can include time spent in the UK for education, but for non-EU nationals residency must have been for purposes other than education. Fees-only awards are available for EU nationals who have been resident in the EU for more than three years prior to the start of the award. Non-EU nationals cannot apply for fees-only awards. Applicants holding 'time-limited visas' are not eligible.

Eligibility requirements
Target countries: Under current program guidelines, candidates must be a national of one of the following countries:

Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Lao P.D.R., Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pacific Island Countries, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

Work: Candidates should also currently work for one of the following or related agencies:

central bank, ministry of economy, ministry of finance, ministry of planning/development, ministry of trade/commerce, tax administration, or national statistics bureau. The program will also consider officials working in other areas of government that have a significant impact on the formulation or implementation of macroeconomic policy.

Education background: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent with at least 16 years of formal education. Names of schools and attending dates beginning from primary school must be listed in the application. In some cases, 15 years of formal education may be accepted if there is an official explanation (a country’s particular educational system or other exceptional circumstances).

English proficiency: Applicants must have an English language proficiency, which needs to be demonstrated as equivalent to or more than an official TOEFL score of 550, CBT213, or iBT79-80. If TOEFL scores are not available, then an overall IELTS score of at least 6.0 can be substituted.

The School of Informatics offers a number of scholarships of £2,000 for both home and overseas well-qualified postgraduate students on the following one year full-time master's courses:

Scholarships will be offered to both home and overseas well-qualified applicants wishing to take up a place on any of the above courses in September 2009. The scholarships, each valued at £2,000, are intended to assist students to pay the fees for their chosen course of study. They will be awarded on a competitive basis to the most promising applicants.
How to apply
Complete an application form for your chosen programme of study, attaching a letter stating that you also wish to be considered for an Informatics Scholarship. Exceptionally well qualified applicants will be offered a scholarship at the time we make an offer of a place on the programme.
Deadlines for application
We will consider applications at three points in the year. If you wish to be considered for a scholarship, please make sure we receive your COMPLETE application form (ie complete references, transcripts etc) and letter by one of these dates.
Round 1: 1 January 2009
Round 2: 30 April 2009
Round 3: 30 June 2009
Terms and conditions
1. Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship's Panel. The panel may require applicants to submit an assignment or an essay, for example, as part of the selection process.
2. Scholarships are only available to students paying the full fee on one of the participating courses.
3. The scholarship is intended to assist the student meet the cost of the fee payable in respect of the course and will be deducted from the fees charged to the student or the student's sponsor.
4. The scholarship will not be recorded on the degree certificate from the University. However, references for students who have successfully completed the course may refer to the scholarship.
5. Applicants may only apply for a scholarship once, but if a deadline is missed it will automatically be considered for the next round.

The Alex McVitty Memorial Award
The Memorial Award provides financial assistance of £1,500 towards living expenses. One award each year is offered to a full time home or overseas applicant on the following programmes of study who wishes to develop a career in law librarianship and can demonstrate financial need. All prospective students for the two programmes of study below are interviewed by Admissions Tutors, and applications for the award can be discussed at that point.

History of the award: Alex McVitty studied for an MSc in Information Science at City University London in 1997-98. Tragically Alex died in a road accident whilst cycling to her work as a law librarian. As Alex had to fund herself through the course, combining study with part-time library jobs, her family and friends chose to establish a memorial fund to provide an annual award to help a student wishing to pursue a career in law librarianship. The Catherine D Hamilton Prize
This prize, for the most outstanding Master's dissertation in the broad area of information retrieval or electronic text management, is awarded annually in memory of Catherine D. Hamilton, a distinguished former student of the Department of Information Science at City University London and a senior figure within the information science community. Students on the following degrees are eligible:

The prize is awarded each year by the Board of Examiners in Information Science who will be looking for work which by virtue of its originality and academic distinction makes a substantial contribution to knowledge in this area. The Board reserves the right not to award the prize in a particular year if these criteria are not met.
The prize is worth £250 and is administered on City's behalf by CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.

Centre for Health Informatics - Dr Foster Intelligence Health Informatics Graduate Award
MSc in Health Informatics Award: “Driving innovation: the Dr Foster Intelligence Health Informatics Graduate Award”.
A prize of £1000 will be awarded to the MSc in Health Informatics student with the best dissertation in each year, with the option of a three month internship at Dr Foster Intelligence.
The prize is sponsored by Dr Foster Intelligence and will be known as “Driving innovation: the Dr Foster Intelligence Health Informatics Graduate Award”. The aims of the award are to encourage excellence in postgraduate level research in health informatics and to stimulate public interest in the use and analysis of health information and data.
Dr Foster Intelligence is a joint venture between the Health and Social Care Information Centre (an NHS Special Health Authority) and the private sector, a combination that is designed to improve the delivery of quality information to Health and Social Care organisations and the public. It is a commercial organisation that provides management information to health and social care organisations as well as the voluntary and private sectors.

are committed to maintaining high standards of academic excellence. Part of the commitment is carried out through the Miami University Scholarship program, which is supported by contributions from the alumni, staff, parents, and friends of the University. Miami has a limited number of special scholarships which are automatically awarded to students who meet the award criteria. For the remainder of our general scholarships, the Office of Student Financial Assistance uses two different processes to award scholarships to incoming freshmen and to continuing Miami Students. In addition to the scholarships awarded by the Office of Student Financial Assistance, many academic departments Scholar Leader Program. Also, as a Division I, institution Miami offers athletic scholarships to students who participate in intercollegiate athletics. For information on National Scholarships and

Special Recognition Scholarships
The Harrison Scholarship is Miami’s premier scholarship program. It provides four-year renewable awards for tuition, fees, on-campus room and board. Harrison Scholars for the 2009-10 academic year achieved an average 34 ACT or 1530 SAT (CR&M) scores, and ranked in the top 1% of their class (if a class rank is available), and had rigorous high school curriculums and strong records of extracurricular involvement. Harrison applications are reviewed for much more than these indicators alone. To be considered for admission into the Harrison Scholars Program, students must submit the Honors Application in addition to the regular admission application to the Office of Admission. This scholarship is renewable with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average.

University Honors Students
Students who are offered admission into the Honors program will be given priority in the awarding of Miami's donor scholarships. Miami also offers special recognition scholarships to the following students:

National Merit Finalists
– The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. National Merit Finalists, (who are not receiving a National Merit $2,500 Scholarship or Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship), who list Miami as their first choice school, are eligible to receive a renewable college-sponsored scholarship. Miami University offers college-sponsored scholarships ranging from $750 to $2,000 depending on financial need. National Achievement Scholar
– The National Achievement Scholarship Program is an academic competition that provides recognition to outstanding African American high school students. High school students enter the National Achievement Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Miami University will guarantee National Achievement finalists who enroll at Miami $10,000 in scholarship and/or grant funds (students must submit documentation of finalist standing); semi-finalists will be guaranteed $5,000. This guarantee will be renewable with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average.

National Hispanic Recognition
– The National Hispanic Recognition is an academic competition that provides national recognition of the exceptional achievements of Hispanic high school students. Students enter the National Hispanic Recognition Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Miami University will guarantee National Hispanic finalists who enroll at Miami $10,000 in scholarship and/or grant funds. This guarantee will be renewable with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average. Freshmen
All students who apply for admission by February 1 and are admitted to Miami University are considered for the many general scholarships we award to incoming freshmen; no separate application is required. Most scholarship recipients have scored 30 or better on the ACT (1320 on the SAT I - CR & M) and rank in the top 10% of their graduating class. Overall in 2009-2010, 53% of admitted first-year students were offered an academic scholarship or University grant. Scholarships range from $500 up to full tuition, fees, room and board. Many are multiple-year scholarships that may be renewed with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. While all scholarships are based on academic merit, some scholarships also have financial need as a requirement. For these scholarships, your financial need may influence both your ability to receive a scholarship and the amount of the award. We determine whether or not a student has financial need based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). – Miami University will award a $5,000 scholarship to each admitted Oxford campus student who was a participant of Miami's Multicultural Leadership Program Summer Leadership Institute (MLPSLI). Ohio Merit Scholarship
– Beginning 2009-2010, Ohio residents admitted as new first-year Oxford campus students who scored a 29 ACT/1290 SAT (Critical Reading + Math)
AND have either a top 10% class rank, or where specific individual rank or school decile is not provided, a 3.85 GPA on a 4.0 scale, will be considered for Miami's new Ohio Merit Scholarships. Award determinations will be based on the official academic and testing information received by Miami University as of March 1. Students will receive a scholarship or a combination of scholarships that range from $1500 - $3000. These are renewable scholarships with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Non-Ohio Resident Merit Award
– Out-of-State residents admitted as new first-year Oxford campus students with at least a 29 on the ACT (or its SAT equivalent of 1290 on the Critical Reading + Math)
AND have either a top 10% class rank, or where specific individual rank or school decile is not provided, a 3.85 GPA on a 4.0 scale, will be considered for Miami's Non-Resident Merit Awards. Students will receive an award or a combination of awards that range from $3000 - $7000. These awards are renewable with varying cumulative grade point average requirements. Choose Ohio First Teaching Scholarship
– The Miami Choose Ohio First Undergraduate Scholarships will provide up to $3,000 a year in renewable scholarships for 2009 graduating high school seniors interested in becoming: a teacher of mathematics or science in grades 7-12 a teacher of mathematics and science in grades 4-9 To learn more click here.

– Miami University will award a $1,000 scholarship to one admitted Ohio student accepted to Miami as either a Math or Math & Statistics major who scored the highest on the American High School Math Competition test. This scholarship will be renewable provided the student remains enrolled as either a Math or a Math & Statistics major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. – Miami University will award $2,000 to each admitted recipient of a Cincinnati Scholarship Foundation Scholarship, who enrolls at the Oxford campus and has significant financial need. Dayton Montgomery County Scholarship Foundation
– Miami University will award a $500 scholarship for each admitted recipient of a Dayton Montgomery County Scholarship Foundation. D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant
– Miami University will award a $5,000 scholarship to each admitted recipient of a D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant. This scholarship will be renewable provided the student maintains a cumulative grade point average of 2.5. More scholarship information available at http://seo.dc.gov/seo.

First Tee Scholarship
– Miami University will award a $10,000 scholarship to two (2) admitted First Tee Scholars who choose to enroll at Miami. Mosaic Youth Group
– Miami University will award a $3,000 scholarship to each admitted student who is a member of the Mosaic Youth Group of Detroit who also file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Washington Metropolitan Scholars
-Miami University will award a $5,000 scholarship to each admitted Washington Metropolitan Scholar who enrolls at the Oxford campus. Venture Scholars Program
– Miami University will award a $5,000 scholarship to each admitted Venture Scholar student who enrolls at the Oxford campus. This scholarship will be renewable provided the student maintains a cumulative grade point average of 2.5. More scholarship information available at www.venturescholar.org.

Scholarships for Transfer Students
New domestic transfer students admitted either fall or spring semester will be considered for merit and need-based scholarship opportunities. Eligibility is determined at the time of admission. A student must have submitted a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for need-based scholarships. Students not meeting the transfer application deadline and international students will be considered for on a case-by-case basis. Students enrolled less than full time, attending the regional campuses, or who have a previous Bachelor's degree are not eligible.

For 2009-2010 academic year,

Miami University offers the following Transfer Scholarships:

Transfer Recognition Awards – $1,000 - $2,000 renewable scholarship available to in-state and out-of-state transfer students who have a minimum GPA of 3.40 on 12 or more hours of college level work.

Phi Theta Kappa International Society of the Two Year College
– $2,500 - $5,000 renewable scholarship for transfer students who have a Phi Theta Kappa membership. Student must provide documentation of membership (designation on the student's admission transcript or submit copy of membership card).
Pathways Scholarship
– $3,000 renewable scholarship available to students transferring directly from an accredited Ohio community college. Student must have attended the community college for two years or earned 24 semester or 36 quarter hours and have a 3.40 GPA.
Merit/Need-based Scholarship
– $2,000 - $4,000 renewable scholarship available for transfer students who have demonstrated academic merit and significant need. To determine need eligibility, a student must have submitted a FAFSA. Students must also have a 3.5 GPA based on 12 credit hours from an accredited school.
Ohio College Opportunity Grant Supplement
– Ohio transfer students receiving the Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG) who filed their FAFSA by Miami's priority deadline will be eligible for a Miami College Opportunity Grant Supplement, amounts will be subject to available funding.
Scholarships for Current Miami Students
To be considered for the Returning Student Scholarships, students need to complete a Returning Student Scholarship Application. Based on this application, the Office of Student Financial Assistance will award scholarships from the university's endowment to returning undergraduate students. Most of these scholarships require students to meet other specific criteria, such as: academic major, hometown, year in school, high school attended, etc. New transfer students, graduate students, those working on a second bachelor's degree and transient students are not eligible for these scholarships. While there is no minimum grade point average required; most of the scholarships are awarded to students who have cumulative grade point averages of at least 3.8 due to the limited number of scholarship awards. If students wish to be considered for need-based scholarships, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed by March 15. The application is available from our web page beginning in November, and the completed application is due back in the office by March 15. For the 2008-09 year, the average award per student was $1,000.
Scholarships Awarded by Academic Departments
Many of the academic departments at Miami have scholarships which they award to both incoming freshmen and to current Miami students. If you wish to be considered for a scholarship from the department in your major field of study, you should contact the chair of the academic department. Incoming freshmen should also make sure that they have declared their intended major with the Office of Admission by early February.
Study Abroad Airfare Grant
Eligible students with financial need may receive a university grant up to $600 for their study abroad airline ticket and could receive the remainder of their ticket price in an interest free university loan. Students must attend full time during either the fall or spring semester in a study abroad program. For more information and the requirements for this grant, see Financial Aid for Study Abroad.
Scholar Leader Scholarships
All upperclass students with a 3.0 cumulative GPA who are interested in exploring leadership issues and who are willing to significantly contribute to a residentially-based living-learning community are encouraged to apply for this program. The Scholar Leader program has a separate application (the deadline is Dec. 12, 2008 for the 2009-2010 academic year). Athletic Scholarships
Miami offers athletic scholarships in the following men’s sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, ice hockey, swimming & diving, and track & field. Miami also offers athletic scholarships in the following women’s sports: basketball, cross country, field hockey, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. Students interested in being a member of one of Miami’s 17 intercollegiate sport teams should contact the team coach for more information.
Teacher Education Access at Miami (TEAM) Scholarships
The TEAM Scholarship through the School of Education and Allied Profession helps Ohio's teachers and administrators reduce the cost of professional/graduate course work. This scholarship provides a 50% reduction to a student's instructional, general, technology and metro fees. To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must be an educator who is a full-time teacher or administrator in an Ohio school, holds a professional license or certificate issued by the State of Ohio, is a resident of Ohio, and the degree or course being taken is part of the educator's approved professional development plan. Miami's TEAM Scholarship can be combined with the Choose Ohio First Scholarship to make your graduate education even more affordable.
Selection and Notification
The Office of Student Financial Assistance awards scholarships to incoming freshmen based on their high school academic record and their ACT/SAT test scores received by Miami University as of March 1. Students are notified of their scholarship awards in late-March. The Office of Student Financial Assistance awards scholarships to continuing Miami students based on the results of the Returning Student Scholarship Competition. Scholarship applications are given two scores: a quantitative score based on the cumulative grade point average (GPA); a qualitative score based on the completed essays and list of activities. Students will be notified prior to July 1 of whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship. award scholarships to students enrolled in their major fields, and the Office of Student Affairs awards scholarships through the between January 1 and February 15.

Shell Scholarship Fund

The Shell Centenary Scholarship Fund (TSCSF) was established as a registered charity in 1997.
Under various Masters programmes, TSCSF offers postgraduate students from developing countries the opportunity to study in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, and gain skills that will make a long-term contribution to the further development of their countries.

Each year nearly 90 students will be given major scholarships (for one year in the UK, and for two years in NL).
Partners in the scheme are the University of Cambridge, Durham University, The University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London, University of Leeds, The University of Oxford and University College London in the UK, and with Delft University of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology and University of Twente in the Netherlands. These universities also contribute to the funding of scholarships.

The scholarships are known as Shell Centenary Scholarships (in the UK), Royal Dutch Shell Centenary Scholarships (in the NL).

A number of scholarships are also jointly funded with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and are known as Shell Centenary Chevening Scholarships.

An applicant should normally be:

It is the intention that the scholarships be widely geographically distributed. In each year a large number of countries will be represented. Scholarships will be awarded to those academically qualified applicants thought best able to contribute to the development of their home country by becoming leaders, decision-makers or opinion-formers. Preference will be given to those who have not yet had the opportunity to study in the UK and NL.

Each scholarship will cover tuition, accommodation, maintenance cost and a return airfare for the scholarship holder only.

The objective of the Korean Government Scholarship Program for Undergraduate Students is to provide international students with the opportunity to conduct advanced studies at higher educational institutions in Korea in order to promote international exchange in education and mutual friendship between countries.

The Government of the Republic of Korea is offering scholarship for six Malaysian students in order to support their undergraduate studies in Korea. The scholarship serves to promote education exchanges and friendship between Malaysia and Korea. Last year, the Korean government awarded scholarship to seven Malaysians for undergraduate degree course and forty two for graduate degree course.

The scholarship covers five-year-studies in Korea comprising one year of Korean language course and four years of undergraduate course. benefits of the scholarship include roundtrip airfare, monthly allowance, settlement allowance, repatriation allowance, language training expenses, medical insurance as well as full tuition fees.

Scholarship Value

Airplane ticket or airfare : The grantees will receive an airplane ticket or be paid an economy class airfare of the shortest route between their country and Korea when they come to Korea, and, thereafter, when the grantees leave Korea after the completion of their study.NIIED does not compensate fees for the domestic travel both in the grantee’s country and Korea.Airfare for entry into Korea will not be provided to a grantee who already arrived and has been staying in Korea as of the confirmation date of selection of scholarship students.
Monthly Allowance : 800,000 won per month.
Tuitions (an entrance fee and a registration fee) : The full entrance fee are exempted by the host institution. The full tuition is exempted by NIIED.
Settlement Allowance : 200,000 won upon arrival.
Repatriation Allowance : 100,000 won upon completion of studies.
Korean Language Training Expenses : The full costs up to 1 year (NIIED pays directly to the entrusted language training institution).
Medical Insurance: The grantees will be provided with health insurance during the period of their study program in Korea for major accidents and illnesses. (The medical fee will be reimbursed through the insurance company to the grantee after he/she pays first). NIIED does not compensate fees for insurance of traveling to and from Korea.
Any grantee who gives up one’s study during the scholarship period will not receive airfare and allowance for repatriation except for the cases approved by NIIED such as severance of diplomatic relations, war or other natural disasters. Any grantee who quits the program in 3 months after one’s entrance into Korea, should refund all scholarship fees(The airfare of arriving Korea, settlement allowance, monthly allowance, Korean language training expenses, etc.)

Scholarship Value
The Khazanah Scholarship Awards is a full scholarship. It covers tuition and college fees, other academic related fees, maintenance allowance, and health insurance.

Charles Sturt University offers you a helping hand to start your career in science via lucrative scholarships for on campus applicants in selected science courses. These University funded scholarships will provide successful applicants with $4000 per annum for up to four years, subject to satisfactory progress.

Equity Scholarships include the Commonwealth Scholarships Programme (CS) established by the Australian Government, and Institution Equity Scholarships (IES) established by individual institutions. Equity Scholarships are comprised of many different scholarships and at CSU we offer the following scholarships:
Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships (CAS-Ordinary) with up to four years of funding available, to assist with accommodation costs.
Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS-Ordinary) with up to four years of funding available, to assist with general education costs.
Indigenous Access Scholarships (CAS-Indigenous payment) through a once-only scholarship payment, to assist Indigenous students to undertake either an eligible enabling course or an undergraduate course. Each provider awarding an IAS to a student must provide the student with an on-going Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (CECS) and, where eligible, a Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship (CAS).
CSU Equity Scholarships as a one year payment for general education costs.
Applications for these scholarships are made via ONE application form and applications are asssessed by UAC using stringent criteria. Students do not need to signify which scholarship they are applying for. A centralised assessment scheme at UAC assesses all applications and then allocates the appropriate scholarships based on the criteria. For example, all applications are assessed for the Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships (CAS). Applicants who do not receive or are not eligible for a CAS are then placed into the pool for a Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS). Those who do not receive a CECS then go into the pool for CSU Equity Scholarship.
In 2008 the Equity Scholarships scheme will include:
162 new Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships valued at $4,324 each
416 continuing Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships valued at $4,324 each
20 Indigenous Access Scholarships - valued at $4,080 each

Scholarships for International Students
You will undoubtedly encounter several scholarship matching services that, for a fee, will offer to search a database of scholarships for awards that match your profile. Unfortunately, the vast majority of awards in these databases are restricted to US citizens and permanent residents. Don't waste your money on such services.
The following databases are dedicated to listing scholarships for international students in specific countries. You should also consider searching the free databases of scholarships on the www.FinAid site, since some of them include scholarships for international students. The www.FastWeb database, in particular, has good coverage of the awards available for international students.

SOS is a Swedish-based scholarship and grant search service, serving primarily European students who wish to study abroad. They also serve American students who want to study in Europe or in the Pacific region (Australia, NZ, Far East). They also do grant searches for institutions and associations with international activities. They have a staff of seven people working in Sweden and four in Riga, Latvia. They compile their own database, which lists 17,000 addresses, and they also have access to several other databases of Scandinavian origin (Billeso & Baltzer), European origin (European Foundation Centre and Maecenata) and American origin (Foundation Center, Scholarship Finder). They have been in business since 1992. Their fees, if the printout is sent by email, are
US$45 for undergraduate or graduate students and for ill or disabled persons looking for financial support,
US$75 for students aiming for a PhD or postdoctoral studies or research. (Smaller personal projects.)
US$95 for institutions, non-profit-organisations and other associations. (Larger projects.) Add US$5 for currency-charges. (This extra-charge will be dropped as soon as they have a simple and secure international digital payment-system working.) They also sell "Stora Fondboken" for US$58 for Macintosh or PC systems with information on 3,000 grants worldwide. It is also available as a CD-ROM for US$285 per year plus VAT.
