UNESCO Silk Roads International Photo Contest

The International Photo Contest ”Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads”
Taking place from 11 April  to 15 July 2018, is organized within the framework of UNESCO Silk Roads Project, UNESCO Youth Programme and the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022). This initiative offers a good opportunity for young people from different regions of the world to visually capture their understanding and impressions of the Silk Roads common heritage in their respective countries.
The photographs must accurately reflect the theme, “Reveal the Silk Roads”, through representations of culture, monuments, landscape, and people.

Benefits
The contest will culminate with an awards ceremony, with three winners being selected from each category.
First place winners will receive a professional camera.
Second place winners will receive a semi-professional camera, and the prize for third place will be a standard-model digital camera.
In addition, winners will receive an all expenses paid trip to the ceremony.
Those under 17 years of age may be accompanied by one other family member, courtesy of UNESCO.
A travelling exhibition of fifty photos which best represent the spirit of the contest will start its tour in UNESCO HQ in Paris, before travelling to other countries.
To commemorate the occasion, these exceptional photographs will ultimately appear in a professionally bound collection of printed images.

Eligibilities
The photography contest is open to everyone between 14 and 25 years old, regardless of his or her country of residence, except employees of UNESCO and the donor, China World Peace Foundation, and their family members (parents, children, siblings and spouses).

There will be two categories:
14 to 17 years old
18 to 25 years old
Open for All.
To participate, minors must provide written permission from their legal guardian(s):

The quality of the photographs must be at least 1,500 pixels wide for horizontal images and 1,500 pixels tall for vertical images. (See Article 3).

Participation is strictly personal and the entrant cannot enter the contest on behalf of another person.
Participation in the photography contest implies full acceptance of these rules and all of their provisions. Non-compliance with the rules will result in disqualification of the entrant.

Russian Government Scholarships

Certain groups of foreigners, Russians living abroad and immigrants can apply for state scholarships on the same terms as Russian citizens once they pass entrance exams or Uniform State Examination (EGE).
Moreover, every year Russian government provides so-called ‘state-funded spots’ at universities to international applicants. In 2017, 15,000 such spots were granted.
The government scholarship includes:
free tuition for the entire duration of the chosen programme;
maintenance allowance (for the entire duration of study regardless of the candidate's success). 
In 2017, an average scholarship amounted to 1,500 roubles a month (approximately USD 25);
dormitory accommodation (if available).
International students (university graduates) who are completing internships in programmes of additional vocational education 
(professional training or career advancement) do not receive a maintenance allowance, but do receive accommodation in the dormitory of their university.
Allocation of quotas is carried out by Rossotrudnichestvo 
(The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation) 

through its international network of offices, as well as through embassies of Russia abroad.

Master’s Human Rights and Democratisation

Unilever started the Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards 
to recognize and support brilliant young innovators tackling the planet’s biggest environmental and social challenges and to help them achieve scale for impact.
Unilever believes that the world’s problems will only be solved with the ideas and talents of a new generation of leaders and changemakers who are challenging business as usual, and who are the future of sustainability. 
The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards will recognise up to eight winners, including the HRH Prize Winner, in 2018, led by The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, culminating in video interviews with our finalist selection panels.
Winners will have a chance to practice their pitches during the Accelerator in Cambridge where they will work with experts from the University of Cambridge, Unilever and other inspirational speakers and guests.
The overall winner will receive the ‘HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize.’
All winners will attend a special prize event hosted in London.
The winner of the ‘HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize’ will receive a €50,000 cash award and one-to-one mentoring support tailored to their specific needs for a duration of 12 months.
The remaining winners will each receive a €8,500 cash award and one-to-one mentoring support tailored to their specific needs for a duration of 12 months.

Eligibilities
The competition is open to founders or co-founders, aged between 18 and 35 (as of 29 June 2018), of initiatives from any part of the world with the exception of those based in Russia, due to local data protection laws.
Initiatives must relate to one or more of the categories: Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Responsible Consumption and Production and Climate Action.

Entries must have grown beyond the idea stage to include actions the applicant has already taken – whether through informal networks, via an existing institution, or by creating a new enterprise.
Entries cannot be accepted from current Unilever employees, nor can entries promote Unilever or its products. However, the entrepreneur may have worked with Unilever in the past or may be working with Unilever currently as a third-party supplier.
Entries must be submitted in English.
If shortlisted, entrants will be required to submit further information in the form of a pitch deck OR business plan, and financial projections, by 21 August 2018 (further guidelines will be sent to shortlisted entries in the first week of August).
If shortlisted, entrants will be required to participate in a video call with a shortlisting panel on 11 or 12 September 2018.
If shortlisted as a finalist, entrants must be exclusively available to attend all parts of the accelerator programme in Cambridge, UK and subsequent Awards events in London, UK from 25 October to 31 October 2018. Unfortunately, inability to attend any part of the agenda due to a competing commitment will mean participants forfeit their place on the programme.

Participation fees
The Participation fee is £995.
The participation fee includes shared accommodation from  
the 1st - 6th July 2018.

For delegates not requiring accommodation, the participation fee is £695.
HOTEL 
Delegates will be staying at the Intercontinental 02, Greenwich
Delegates will be staying in shared accommodation. 
If you require a single room, this will be an additional cost, depending on the rates offered by the hotel. 

Shared accommodation includes a twin room with 2 separate beds.
