1. Among the conditions emphasised by the United Kingdom Scholarship Commission, candidates should:

b. be available to commence their academic studies in the United Kingdom by the start of the U.K. academic year in September / October 2010.
2. Awards are tenable at UK participating institutions, which can be viewed on the website below. Candidates are expected to state their preferred institution on the application form, but the final decision on host institution will be made by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom. In recent years, placement of successful candidates has sometimes been delayed by the process of gaining admission to their host university. For this reason, it is strongly advisable that candidates submit independent applications directly to their preferred institutions. Where offers of admission have been obtained, these should be included with the application.
3. The commission will not offer awards to scholars close to completing a doctorate in their home country, though awards may be tenable to complete doctoral studies already underway in their home country or in the U.K.

Minority Nurse Scholarship Program
Minority Nurse has teamed up with NCEMNA to co-sponsor an
annual scholarship to help outstanding nurses from underrepresented groups
complete their studies toward a Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing. To
date, we have awarded scholarships to more than 40 students, honoring their
commitment to the profession, academic excellence, and community service.
We
are currently accepting applications for our 16th annual scholarship
competition, consisting of two $1,000 awards and one $3,000 award. Scholarships
will be paid in summer 2015 for the fall 2015 academic term.
Who is Eligible To
apply for this scholarship,
students must meet all four of the following
criteria:
Be a minority in the nursing professionn
Be enrolled (as of September
2016) in either the third or fourth year of an accredited BSN program in the
United States OR an accelerated program leading to a BSN degree (such as
RN-to-BSN or BA-to-BSN) OR an accelerated master’s entry program in nursing for
students with bachelor’s degrees in fields other than nursing (such as
BA-to-MSN). Graduate students who already have a bachelor’s degree in nursing
are not eligible. Have a 3.0 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale)

Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society
The Rolex Scholarship
Currently there are three Rolex Scholarships: North America, Europe, and Australasia. Each Rolex Scholarship provides a hands-on introduction to underwater and other aquatic-related endeavors for a young person considering a career in an underwater-related discipline. One scholar is selected from each of the three regions and each scholar spends approximately one year working side by side with current leaders in underwater fields. Each scholar travels primarily within his or her region, but may have opportunities throughout the underwater world. The range of experiences may include active participation in field studies, underwater research, scientific expeditions, laboratory assignments, equipment testing and design, photographic instruction, and other specialized assignments.
Scholars pursue activities in their chosen disciplines during the one-year period between Our World Underwater Scholarship Society’s annual spring meetings. Experiences may last from a few days to over a month. At the conclusion of each experience, the scholar moves on to another, so the scholarship year involves extensive travel. The scholar is literally on the road from spring-to-spring with very little time at a home base. Scholars spend most of the year with the society's friends, hosts, and coordinators around the world. The experiences vary from year to year depending upon the scholar's interests and the availability of expeditions and hosts' opportunities. These experiences make up the real heart of the scholarship. The opportunity to join a host's daily activities exposes the scholar to the realities of the host's special pursuits.
Each of the three Rolex Scholarships has a coordinator who organizes itineraries for his or her scholar - emphasizing breadth of experience, but tailoring the itenerary to the individual scholar’s background and interests. These itineraries include time with specialists in such areas as biology, hyperbarics, anthropology, and archaeology. Scholar hosts include scientists, engineers, filmmakers, and marine mammal researchers. Visits to dive store operations, classes in underwater photography, and working with conservation organizations are also typical experiences.
These experiences provide the scholars with a broad overview of careers in the underwater world. Scholars may spend varying lengths of time investigating:

•Government
•Tourism
•Commercial and Research Diving
•Ecological Activism
The global underwater community sees the selected North American, European, and Australasian scholars as individuals with the potential to make significant contributions to the underwater world even though they may not have yet chosen a specific career path. During the course of the year, exposure to a wide array of types of work and the chance to actually jump in and experience specific jobs provides scholars with invaluable career-deciding opportunities.
The scholarship emphasizes hands-on experience in activities that will contribute to a well-rounded education and a broad network of contacts.

European Vacation Scholarships
The Cambridge European Trust offers scholarships towards the cost of academically valuable activities undertaken by Cambridge students in European countries (not confined to the EU). (Activities in the UK, such as attendance at a non-English intensive language course, will be considered for support only if the applicant can demonstrate that the equivalent activity in a European country outside the UK is not possible.)
Aims of the Scholarships
The aim is to encourage Cambridge students to improve their knowledge of the history, languages, culture, politics, and styles of teaching and of research organization, of other European countries.
Eligible activities
Activities may be related or unrelated to the applicant's Cambridge degree subject. Purposes such as attendance at summer schools offered by European universities, profound courses in languages for non-linguists, and scientific work in European laboratories could be supported.
Ineligible activities
The Scholarships will not fund:
■Attendance at academic conferences, seminars or meetings which, although they may happen to take place in another European country, are not likely to improve participants' awareness of the host country
■Presenting research papers at conferences
■Medical electives and equivalent
■Vacation courses and field trips organised by Cambridge Faculties and Departments
Eligible applicants
■Students at any level of study (undergraduate, taught postgraduate or research postgraduate) may apply
■Undergraduates who are graduating in the year of application may apply, provided they are continuing to postgraduate study in Cambridge
■Students of languages may not apply for intensive language tuition in their language of study (but may apply for cultural visits to a country whose language they are studying)
Given the aim of the Scholarships, it will be clear that certain applicants and activities will have priority for funding. For example: an NST student is more likely to be funded for a language course than an MML student (because the MML student is likely to have already acquired a greater degree of cultural awareness); discretionary, 'added-value' research visits are more likely to be funded than research which is part and parcel of a graduate student's normal programme of research; and a French national is more likely than a German national to be funded to undertake an activity in Germany. Such prioritising is necessary because - particularly in the Easter and Long Vacations - the number of applicants, and the amount sought, greatly exceeds the Trust's capacity to make awards.
Amount of award
The value of awards will be determined according to the cost of the activity and the other resources available to the applicant, but most awards are expected to be of £250.
Reporting
Those offered an award are be expected to submit a short written report on their return.

Education background: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent with at least 16 years of formal education. Names of schools and attending dates beginning from primary school must be listed in the application. In some cases, 15 years of formal education may be accepted if there is an official explanation (a country’s particular educational system or other exceptional circumstances).
English proficiency: Applicants must have an English language proficiency, which needs to be demonstrated as equivalent to or more than an official TOEFL score of 550, CBT213, or iBT79-80. If TOEFL scores are not available, then an overall IELTS score of at least 6.0 can be substituted.

Terms and conditions
1. Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship's Panel. The panel may require applicants to submit an assignment or an essay, for example, as part of the selection process.
2. Scholarships are only available to students paying the full fee on one of the participating courses.
3. The scholarship is intended to assist the student meet the cost of the fee payable in respect of the course and will be deducted from the fees charged to the student or the student's sponsor.
4. The scholarship will not be recorded on the degree certificate from the University. However, references for students who have successfully completed the course may refer to the scholarship.
5. Applicants may only apply for a scholarship once, but if a deadline is missed it will automatically be considered for the next round.

The Alex McVitty Memorial Award
The Memorial Award provides financial assistance of £1,500 towards living expenses. One award each year is offered to a full time home or overseas applicant on the following programmes of study who wishes to develop a career in law librarianship and can demonstrate financial need. All prospective students for the two programmes of study below are interviewed by Admissions Tutors, and applications for the award can be discussed at that point.

History of the award: Alex McVitty studied for an MSc in Information Science at City University London in 1997-98. Tragically Alex died in a road accident whilst cycling to her work as a law librarian. As Alex had to fund herself through the course, combining study with part-time library jobs, her family and friends chose to establish a memorial fund to provide an annual award to help a student wishing to pursue a career in law librarianship. The Catherine D Hamilton Prize
This prize, for the most outstanding Master's dissertation in the broad area of information retrieval or electronic text management, is awarded annually in memory of Catherine D. Hamilton, a distinguished former student of the Department of Information Science at City University London and a senior figure within the information science community. Students on the following degrees are eligible:

Library Science
The prize is awarded each year by the Board of Examiners in Information Science who will be looking for work which by virtue of its originality and academic distinction makes a substantial contribution to knowledge in this area. The Board reserves the right not to award the prize in a particular year if these criteria are not met.
The prize is worth £250 and is administered on City's behalf by CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.

The aims of the award are to encourage excellence in postgraduate level research in health informatics and to stimulate public interest in the use and analysis of health information and data.
Dr Foster Intelligence is a joint venture between the Health and Social Care Information Centre (an NHS Special Health Authority) and the private sector, a combination that is designed to improve the delivery of quality information to Health and Social Care organisations and the public. It is a commercial organisation that provides management information to health and social care organisations as well as the voluntary and private sectors.
